FAQs
Q: How does audition week work?
A: Harvard A cappella audition week starts with pre-lim auditions on Saturday and Sunday. The following week will include 3 invitational callback nights for each group! Before each callback, we will give you a selection of a solo to sing, and you will be taught a block during the callback! During the final round of callbacks (called Final Night) on Friday, you will be asked to prepare a full song of your choice!
Q: Do I need to have a cappella experience to sing in an a cappella group?
A: Not at all! Many a cappella singers at Harvard had no a cappella experience in high school!
Q: Can I audition for more than 1 group?
A: Of course! We recommend attending pre-lim auditions for 2-5 groups. You can even be called back to multiple final nights!
Q: Do I need to identify as a woman to join the Fallen Angels?
A: Nope! The Fallen Angels is an upper-voice a cappella group, and accepts all individuals whose voices fall into the soprano-alto range, including those who identify outside the gender binary. No member will ever be excluded due to a change in how they identify.
Q: What does a semester in the Fallen Angels look like?
A: We rehearse for 6 hours a week and perform in Sanders theatre every semester! We also are hired for additional gigs, perform charity concerts, go on group retreats, and sing with groups from other colleges!
Q: What about COVID restrictions?
A: We are aligning with the college's current restrictions, therefore masking and social distancing is not necessary throughout any stage of the audition process. If you test positive for COVID (either during auditions or before but were planning to attend) please reach out to us and we will be able to arrange a remote audition alternative for you!
Q: What if I have more questions?
A: Send us an email ([email protected]) or DM us on instagram (@harvardfallenangels), we'd be happy to talk about all things FA!
